Reflecting on Novo's Evolution in 2022

Significant enhancements were made to Novo throughout 2022. The project underwent a name change and transitioned to the Dogecoin codebase. Both fungible and non-fungible tokens were developed on the dev branch and deployed on the testnet.

Despite missing a few milestones due to the unexpected switch from the Bitcoin fork and the prolonged testing period of version 0.3 on the testnet, the project continued to evolve.

In 2022, my perspective on Bitcoin scripting shifted. When compared to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) model and the emerging Move model, Bitcoin scripting is relatively challenging for developers. I eventually became convinced that incorporating a modern virtual machine is essential for Novo developers to avoid learning the intricacies of Bitcoin scripting.

I explored several ideas, such as integrating the Ethereum Virtual Machine with the Bitcoin UTXO model. However, this approach quickly added a new layer of complexity to the system. Consequently, I began researching the Move model to understand how Novo could benefit from it, and I gained valuable insights.

While I cannot make any technical promises for 2023, I will continue my research and experimentation in this field.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
